Virtual #Vote4OurFuture Campaign Launches on July 23rd
July 21, 2020 – The National Children’s Campaign (NCC) and Zero Hour are joining together on July 23rd to launch #Vote4OurFuture, a virtual campaign aimed at galvanizing Americans to fight for our nation’s 74 million children. The festivities will be live from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm ET and feature youth activists, performers, elected officials, and many others. The event will be live-streamed on Youtube, Facebook, and Twitch.
A press conference featuring speakers from the event and representatives from Zero Hour and the National Children’s Campaign will be held from 3:30-4:15 PM ET the same day. Members of the media can register here for the press conference Zoom link and password.
“For too long the voices of young people have been ignored in our political discourse,” said Kimberly Gutzler, NCC President and Co-Founder. “The #Vote4OurFuture campaign aims to rectify that problem by training young people to educate, register, and get out the vote this November for the issues that matter to them.”
This youth-led project includes grassroots political activism, community-led organizing, initiatives aimed at increasing voter turnout among first-time voters and young people, strategic partnerships, concerts, and more.
“The #Vote4OurFuture hashtag really says it all,” said Madelaine Tew, Zero Hour Founder, Co-Executive Director, and Director of Finance. “The stakes in this upcoming election are incredibly high and this campaign will empower young people to influence the electoral process.”
#Vote4OurFuture was previously scheduled to be a bus tour traveling through New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Flint, and Milwaukee from March 20th to 30th. However, the COVID-19 pandemic caused the change in dates and format.
“COVID-19 forced us to transition the #Vote4OurFuture campaign from an in-person bus tour to a virtual tour,” said Jonah Gottlieb, NCC Executive Director. “However, the tour’s virtual nature will allow the National Children’s Campaign and Zero Hour to reach even more people, starting with our launch on July 23rd.”
