National Children’s Campaign to Host National Children’s Week
June 14th – June 19th Virtual Events Highlight Issues Impacting Generations Y and Alpha
June 11, 2020 – The National Children’s Campaign (NCC) is hosting the National Children’s Week (NCW). The events from June 14th – June 19th were scheduled to take place on Capitol Hill, but because of the coronavirus everything will happen on a virtual basis.
‘The National Children’s Campaign is hosting the National Children’s Week to raise awareness about the issues impacting America’s 74 million children,” said NCC President and Co-Founder Kimberly Gutzler. “A diverse group of subject matter experts and organizations will participate in virtual events, panels and webinars. In a few months American will be choosing candidates up and down the ballot to decide our future. The National Children’s Campaign wants voters to be thinking about children when they vote. Whether it is economic justice, environmental justice, educational justice, health justice, racial justice or any other issues, we are seeking solutions that create a more just America.”
The most well-known participants include Rev William Barber of the Poor People’s Campaign, Mustafa Santiago Ali of the National Wildlife Federation, Jamie Margolin of Zero Hour, Rev. Lennox Yearwood of the Hip Hop Caucus, and actress and singer Antonique Smith.
Organizations that are participating include Access the Polls, the Adoption Advocacy Network, the Children’s Environmental Health Network March For Science, Moms Clean Air Force, One Up Action, Our Children’s Trust, Polluters Out, Rock the Vote, Schools for Climate Action, Six Seconds, Songs for Good,
Tomorrow We Vote, and YWMF: Your Workers, My Family.

- Wednesday June 17 – Gun Violence & Child Welfare
- Thursday June 18 – Healthcare
- Friday, June 19 – Voter & Civic Engagement
“Young people like myself are more politically engaged because the stakes are too high to sit on the sidelines while politicians determine our future,” said NCC Executive Director and Co-Founder Jonah Gottlieb. “Soon I will graduate from high school and later this year I will vote for the first time. The National Children’s Week is a voter education and mobilization tool. We hope those joining our six days of virtual activities will be more informed about the issues and more willing to vote on those same issues this November.”
