National Children’s Campaign Partners with Politalk USA

The National Children’s Campaign (NCC) today announced a partnership with PoliTalk USA for the duration of the 2020 Presidential race. NCC is dedicated to creating a movement that forces political candidates to focus on issues that matter to children, while PoliTalk is a website and app dedicated to providing timely updates about the candidates and where they stand on the issues.

PoliTalk’s Co-Founders are twin brothers Julien and Christopher Matrullo, who started the website while they were in high school. They are currently freshmen at Georgetown University. They will serve as NCC’s Co-Directors of Research.

“The National Children’s Campaign is excited to welcome PoliTalk USA’s Julien and Christopher Matrullo to our team,” said NCC Co-Founder and President Kimberly Gutzler. “Our goal is to make sure politicians address the concerns of children. That starts with the President. Talented, engaged young people like the Matrullo brothers have meticulously documented where all the Presidential candidates stand on issues like the economy, education, health care and guns. We will rely on their expertise as we strive to amplify the concerns of children on the campaign trail.”

“There is no doubt that the current political climate is becoming increasingly polarized, with the media often electing to focus on personas instead of policy,” said Julien Matrullo. “PoliTalk USA was created so that people can have an unbiased, organized, trustworthy, and accessible medium to learn about every candidates’ stances and policy proposals. With child policy often being overlooked, we are excited to have partnered with the National Children’s Campaign to provide information on where the candidates stand on these important issues.”

“America’s 74 million children need voters to support elected officials who prioritize us,” said National Children’s Campaign Co-Founder and Executive Director Jonah Gottlieb, a 17-year-old from Petaluma, California. “PoliTalk USA has done a fantastic job educating the American electorate about the substantive policy differences between the presidential candidates in a neutral manner. We’re so excited to add Julien and Christopher to our team of young people working to transform our country and ensure our government is fighting for the youngest Americans.”

“We created PoliTalk USA so everybody can learn about the candidates’ platforms, and I’m excited that our research, which now includes child policies, will be associated with a growing organization doing important work during this election cycle,” said Christopher Matrullo.

The National Children’s Campaign is a national nonprofit organization that serves to amplify the voices of America’s 74 million children and youth and make sure that our nation’s political leaders prioritize the issues that matter to those who are too young to vote. The National Children’s Campaign focuses on health, education, climate and environment, child welfare, gun violence, child immigration, LGBTQ+ rights, and youth civic engagement.

PoliTalk USA was developed by 13 tech-savvy, politically minded, and determined students in the graduating class of 2019 at Westhill High School in Stamford, CT. After completing the app, Julien and Christopher Matrullo decided to continue working on it, and they are responsible for all updates, social media posts, and press interactions.
