Julien Matrullo
Co-Director of Presidential Research
Julien Matrullo, an 18-year old from Stamford, Connecticut, is a freshman at Georgetown University. Julien is one of the founders of PoliTalk USA, an app and website that aesthetically presents unbiased and comprehensive information about each of the 2020 presidential candidates’ platforms, Democrats and Republicans. He felt motivated to create this election guide after watching the media’s coverage of the 2016 election, which put more focus on politicians’ personas than their policies.
Julien and his team combed through the candidates’ policy proposals, in addition to watching town halls, reading news articles, and reviewing voting records, to summarize the candidates’ positions on topics such as the economy, health care, immigration, gun control, and LGBTQ rights. Julien continues to update the app and website as new policies are released by candidates. PoliTalk USA formed a partnership with the National Children’s Campaign to provide information on every 2020 candidate’s stance on issues affecting children.
Julien is in the McDonough School of Business and intends on obtaining a B.S. in Business and Global Affairs. At Georgetown, he is a member of the Georgetown University Alumni and Student Federal Credit Union, the largest student-run financial institution in the world. He is also a member of the Hilltop Microfinance Initiative, a non-profit that offers personalized small business loans to local entrepreneurs who might not be able to receive funding through the traditional banks. Julien also performs consulting work for international non-profits as a member of Georgetown Global Consulting. Julien is an Eagle Scout, enjoys playing and watching soccer, and spends his free time reading Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight
